Authentic AKS-74U construction and realism

The VFC AKS-74U GBBR Gas Blowback Airsoft Rifle is the newest addition to VFC’s highly regarded AK lineup, built to deliver an uncompromising level of realism for serious airsoft players and collectors. Constructed with tough full-steel externals and real steel–spec dimensions, this rifle accepts drop-in real AKS-74U furniture, making it one of the most authentic AK gas blowback platforms available. Highly detailed externals with period-correct production markings further reinforce its realistic Cold War–era aesthetic, capturing the iconic look and feel of the compact AKS-74U.

Long-stroke gas blowback performance

Powered by green gas, the VFC AKS-74U features a CNC-machined integrated steel bolt carrier and an enlarged 22 mm cylinder diameter, producing a strong and satisfying recoil impulse. The simulated long-stroke piston action closely mirrors the operation of a real AK, delivering a mechanical feel that sets this platform apart from standard GBB rifles. An adjustable bolt travel system allows users to select full long-stroke travel for maximum realism or short-stroke operation for a faster cycle rate, giving players flexibility between simulation-focused and performance-driven setups.

Field-ready internals and functional details

Internally, the rifle is equipped with a realistic full-steel fire control group, complete with a braided wire hammer spring and integrated cycle rate reducer for consistent operation. The easy-disassembly hop-up unit uses VSR-spec hop-up bucking and an inner barrel, allowing straightforward tuning and compatibility with common aftermarket parts. A Warsaw Pact–style dovetail optics rail on the left side supports traditional AK optic mounting solutions. The lightweight plum-colored aluminum magazine holds 42 rounds, features a last-round click indicator, and includes a dry-firing mode, adding another layer of functional realism to this compact gas blowback rifle.
