If you are looking for a squad automatic weapon (SAW) the CA249 may be the best option for you. The CA249 is one of the most impressive support weapons on the market today. It features full metal construction and a detailed finish that makes you feel like you are holding the real thing. In addition to the 300 round magazine the Classic Army CA249 has the ability to use box magazines, so you have the ability to rain BBs toward your opponents. The folding metal bi-pod and skeletal stock with shoulder rest make this SAW ready to lay down a base of fire. The CA249 already performs well out of the box during extended firing periods due to tuned gearbox from Classic Army.
Most airsoft gun packages with a battery and charger may come with a standard 8.4v or 9.6v NiMH battery and a charger. This package comes with a 11.1v LiPo battery and balance charger not typically included with airsoft guns. Players will tend to spend up to $30 to $40 extra just to upgrade their battery to 11.1v LiPo and balance charger. Please Note:
- Do not adjust the hop up completely on, if the hop up is too far into the barrel it may jam the gun. A BB jam is extremely detrimental to the internals of the gearbox.

I know I put in much more cons than pros but the cons are very outweighed by the pros. The pros I put in are what really makes the CA249 a strong LMG. You'll be paying for a better, more reliable product than the A&K version from Evike. It's better to pay an extra $70-100 for an external box magazine than to buy a shitty product that doesn't perform as well (A&K quality control is terrible). The externals are also better on the CA version. Get this gun if you want to be a support gunner who wants to keep heads down, scare little kids, and be a team player.
Pros:
Long range, able to put a blob of BBs out to 200 feet. Within that range of 200 feet, you have a strong chance to hit a target but after that, you'll be more of suppressive role. You can help out your team without having to move as much from your position. A very welcome pro to counter the weight of the gun.
Rate of fire is decent for an LMG. You get the best out of it using 7.4v lipo batteries. With a 7.4v, you can put out 100BBs in roughly 5 seconds which is pretty close to double the A&K Mk1. It'll slow down slightly with a 9.6v NiMH if you want to say conserve ammo.
The CA249 has a top rail for optics which is better than the A&K version with no rails at all.
Has no reliability issues if used properly. You can keep firing to hold down a section of a map but limit your burst time.
Cons:
Metal nubs that lock the stock in place for the three different positions bend easily. After a day of playing, a quarter of the nub bend out of place.
Battery space is somewhat limited. I'd recommend using 7.4v PEQ box lipo batteries for the best fit. You can still fit 9.6v NiMH butterflies in there but it'd be a tight fit.
BBs can get clogged between the body and gearbox and aren't easy to take out. It's a minor nuisance with the rattling but it doesn't jam the gun or anything.
You will need to buy a box magazine separately if you want to really lay down suppressive fire. That's the only pro the A&K version has over CA. The magazine that came with the gun doesn't fit properly. Never use high caps with this gun unless you're stationary or have three hands. Use MAG M4 midcaps because they fit securely, it's a very real possibility for an M4 magazine to fall out of the gun if it is not a MAG midcap, or buy a box magazine.
Removing the barrel to get to the battery space is hard but gets easier over time.
Paint scratches easily against dirt.
The gun's weight is terribly balanced because it's front heavy. If you are right handed, most of the weight will be supported by your left hand. Don't expect to do much hip firing. Build some muscles or else you'll fuck up your right arm and shoulder like me.
