Common Airsoft Beginners Mistakes

Did you snag a sweet airsoft gun for the holidays, or do you know someone who did? Maintaining your weapon from the get-go will prevent big problems later. Check out these quick airsoft beginner tips or send them to a friend to make sure you get started off smoothly!

  • Always make sure your high-cap magazine is fully wound and contains enough BBs to feed rounds consistently. An unwound magazine, or one that isn't full enough to feed properly, will not function correctly.
  • Never use poor quality BBs! These can jam the gun and damage your internal components. Only use BBs from a trusted airsoft specialty retailer. Avoid sporting goods stores, as these generic BBs are inadequate for extended use.
  • Make sure to monitor your battery while charging it! A full battery charge will take approximately 4-6 hours on a standard wall charger. Do not charge the battery unattended overnight, as this can damage or kill the battery.
  • Don’t let your gun or your battery overheat. If you have an AEG, keep your firing bursts short to prevent gear or motor damage. And if the battery is feeling hot, swap it for another one or take a quick break.
  • A hidden beginner airsoft mistake is over-accessorizing. We love accessories, but if you aren’t actually using them, they’re just added weight and wasted money. Think about when and how you’ll be playing before springing for those bipods, flashlights and optics.
