Product Information:
I bought this excellent piece of kit to go for an S&B shortdot look on my VFC 417. Apart from the awesome aesthetics it adds to the AEG, the scope itself is absolutely a surprise. I've blown a couple thousand on Leupold, Night Force, and even S&B glass for my real rifles, and I have to say for $200 (a good deal less with GI's awesome coupons) the quality of this cannot be beat. The 1.1x is very good, very close to true 1x power and as close to it as you'll find in this price range.

*FITS 30MM SCOPE RINGS, LOW PROFILE MOUNTS *NOT RECOMMENDED*

The packaging is pretty nice, all the neat bells and whistles. With this particular scope (Mil-Dot), a nice mil-dot instruction sheet is included, and it looks to be something someone new to mils might look into. It also comes with a cleaning cloth and warranty information and extra battery for the illumination rig.

The scope itself is ~10 inches long, and comes with rather nice lens cover that I have a hard time finding anything wrong with. It's really nice. The glass is not bad at all, no S&B, but extremely little if any fish bowling around the edges with a very clear FOV. I feel comfortable enough with the quality of this to throw it on my M6A2 and see how it'll fare with a few shots. The adjustment knobs pull up (elevation) and out to the side (windage) for adjustment with reassuring clicks, then firmly and solidly click down into place, to go nowhere unless you pull them again.

The reticle was something I was on the fence about, trying for ages to ask GI customer service, and even requesting a review on GITV about the specifics to no avail. I'm happy I took the gamble with this particular reticle.
Essentially, in the center of the scope, you have your mil-dot reticle. ONLY THE MIL-DOT PORTION OF THE RETICLE ILLUMINATES. The rest of the reticle remains black, which are just flat black lines flanking the axes of the mil-dot reticle. Basically a crosshair with only the mil-dot portion that illuminates, a very comfortable touch and solid option if you're doing CQB and want to use this as a reflex sight.

The illumination is nice and can be seen in broad daylight. Both colors (green and blue, strangely no red?) have 5 levels of adjustment, which click solidly into place.
Though I hinted this is something to consider as a bridge between a reflex sight and a medium power optic, I would shy away from using this in CQB often. It's a tad hefty, and will definitely add more than a few ounces to your CQB gun of choice whatever it may be. I also wouldn't want to bang this thing up. It definitely feels rugged enough, but I've always been apprehensive about banging around any decent quality glass (isn't everybody?)

Pros:
-Very good finish and glass for price range.
-User friendly Mil-Dot guide can be a help.
-Illumination is bright and has it's uses in low light.
-Again, glass is rather nice, end surprisingly clear especially on the lower magnifications.
-Excellent compromise between reflex sight and medium power optic (not without issues).
-Something that may be useful on a "real steel" plinking gun (and I'm not just talking .22, but within reason).
-Thankfully, very very easy to adjust and zero.

Cons:
-Hefty, a reason to weigh cost/benefit of using this in CQB ( this is probably not something to slap on an MP9).
-Longer than expected at around 10-11inches (another reason to weigh cost/benefit of using this in CQB)
-No red illumination option
-Zero Lock would have been nice, but now I'm being unrealistic and picky for any optic in this price range.

This is all in all something I would highly recommend to anyone pursuing a DMR role for their AEG.

it also looks very attractive on a VFC 417...

Product Information:
This is a great scope for the price range. Not your typical crappy NCstar quality. I originally purchased this scoperation about 4 years ago at the Walnut GI store. I needed a medium to long range scope for my DMR AEG and this scope matched my needs.

I was truly expecting less cause all my previous NCStar products was crap. I've put this scope thru many games and 3 lion claws and it's still standing stong.

Just make sure you purchase scope rings that is higher than 1 inch. GI sells 1.5 inch scope rings that will bring this scope tof the right height.

Pros:
Robust build quality, it never lost its zero went dropped and hit by BBs

Green/blue reticle still very bright and define in low light and day light settings.

Looks awesome. It's over 10 inches long and looks awesome on any DMR.

Cons:
My only gripe is the glass barely has a slight yellowish tint. Maybe this was on purpose, cause it's beneficial to me during day light games.

Price range. You can't beat the quality of this scope at this price range, but it would help if it was cheaper. (I need another on for my second DMR! C'mon, help me out here!)

(I have this same question)
It comes with very adequate see-through lens covers, on the field it can be used if you're understandably worried about the lenses being damaged.
