VFC has a reputation for excellence when building their guns, and it is well earned. This M4 has a truly pleasing aesthetic as well as solid build. Their is no wobble on anything except the 4-position stock, which will always have a bit of wobble as a moving part. On semi, mine shot a consisted 378 FPS, with an also consistent 365 FPS on automatic. This particular model is nice and tight, the shortened barrel length making corners and tight spaces a non-issue.
The gearbox is a work of art. with a 9.6 V battery, it sounds smooth and beautiful. Rather than chugging along, this thing almost purrs. The self-shimming gear system evidences itself in the sound of precision parts meshing together to run a fine machine.
The only thing that really made me scratch my head and rage for a bit is the delta ring. It is the stiffest damn piece I have ever encountered, easily more stiff than that of an actual AR-15 (as my uncle can attest to!). Combined with the hand guard design, which essentially hooks the rear end of the hand guard to the delta ring, it is quite frustrating to house or remove the battery, which is compounded by the rather limited battery space. A nunchuck battery is a must for this gun out of the box.
I modified mine with an AR-15 quad rail which fit the delta ring no problem, and have a PEQ battery box on the way, which has completely alleviated the hand guard issue, as the rails are much more cooperative than the stock polymer hand guards. On the subject of hand guards, this gun does match real steel specs in every area I've checked, meaning Magpul furniture and other after-market AR-15 parts will work with this beauty just fine.
