I have previously owned a Big Dragon tracer, and after a little over a year of use the sensors stopped working. It was one of my favorite things I had ever bought in airsoft, and I decided it would be worth it to spend a little more on a "JG" model. Sadly, I am disappointed. While the overall build quality is much better on this Lancer model, it does not function nearly as well. The bbs simply are not as bright. When fired, you can see that the bbs are indeed glowing, but they do not stay lit for the entirety of the bb's flight. While on my first one they looked like a Star Wars laser, even staying lit after hitting their target, their ricochet path glowing and continuing to glow on the ground. I found when testing the Lancer unit by dropping the bb through the top that this is due to the fact that the unit only lights up one side of the bb because there is only one source of light. The Big Dragon also had only one flash unit, yet it managed to light the entire bb. Why? Because of the inner barrel. Apparently, upon taking the unit apart, the Big Dragon had a metallic coat on the outside of the clear plastic barrel, allowing for reflection, while the Lancer only has a white paper coat. Much less reflection. I ended up switching out the barrel of my broken unit with my new unit, but there was little improvement. I also noticed that the Big Dragon has two, very large capacitors and the Lancer Tactical only had one, much smaller capacitor. Interesting to note. Overall I would much rather have bought another Big Dragon Unit. Even if it is a hit-or-miss tracer, it performed much, much better.

Pros:
Excellent Finish and etchings, it serves as a good mock suppressor. Easy to take apart if it needs to be serviced. Construction uses screws and not hot glue like the Big Dragon. Keeps up with 17+ rof and 430 fps.

Cons:
No where near as bright as my previous unit. Barrel does not have a reflective coating and unit fails to light the entire bb. Range of bb lighting only lasts for around 120 feet.
