The Modify Modular Speed Up Gear Set for Ver.2/Ver.3 is a drop in gear set that is good to go right out of the bag. The gears are held together and fall right into place, this item comes with metal bushings, and no shimming is required. This is the best way to change the gears in your Version 2 and 3 gearbox and save time on shimming. This is a "High Speed" gear set, which means that the gear set is designed for low power springs.

It's a great idea, but it doesnt fit in my reinforced SRC gearbox, in the picture you'll notice that at the bottom left there is part of the metal piece that connects everything together sticking out...well, inside my gearbox (and just about every other gearbox i've ever owned) there is solid metal between the spur gear and the back of the gearbox/spring guide, making it impossible to place the gear set inside at all. Looks like now i have to pay extra money to buy a new gearbox shell that is compatible with this gear set.
Pros:
Great concept if you have a lot of money to spend on Airsoft, like me ; )
Cons:
Doesn't fit in certain gearboxes - making it a waste of $80

I have several set of these Modify modular gears, in high speed and high torque, as well as the SMOOTH series of Modify gears, also in high speed and high torque.
Awesome gears, if you have a 100% Tokyo Marui compatible gearbox. Most cheap Chinese cloned guns don't....they copy the Classic Army/Systema reinforced gearboxes (which, by the way, have the reinforcement in all the wrong spots - by the spring guide and around the bushings/gear axle holes. Anyone who's ever repaired a broken gearbox knows they only break in 2 places: either the cast metal pin that hold the trigger block in place snaps off from pulling too hard on the trigger, or they crack right at the front around the cylinder windows from an overpowered spring, dry-firing, or the extreme cold. Gearboxes never break at the rear, or around the bushings...). Additionally, many cheap Chinese cloned guns do not have true 6mm bushing holes...the tolerances are more open (6.1mm) because of sloppy quality manufacturing QC. Modify does sell a 6.1mm bushing kit for those of you trying to install these gears in older cloned Chinese mechboxes, like the first run JG's.
You need to use these in a real-deal Tokyo Marui gearbox, or any other one that does not have all the fake-ass reinforcement crap on the inside. Once you have that sorted, these gears are excellent (although not as nice as the modify SMOOTH-series gears). Mine have lasted well over 100,000 rounds pulling a Modify MS100 spring and using an 11.1v 20C lipo pack.
Pros:
- Never shim again!
- Excellent quality gears
- Very fair price for what you get
Cons:
- Only fit in actual TM-style/non-reinforced gearbox.
