Snap the protective lens cap on when you are transporting your equipment or if you are not using your optic. (I have this same question)
Staff Answer:
I would expect the item to be water resistant, and would work fine in light. However, it the item becomes saturated or submersed in water, I would not feel comfortable guaranteeing its survival.
