(Discontinued) G&G Full Metal Blow Back MK5 SD5 AEG Airsoft SMG
[R12C00][04846 / TGP-PM5-Q5]New to airsoft? Here are some safety tips for airsoft guns that we recommend following.
The blowback feature on the G&G MK5SD5 is like extra icing on an already delicious cake. The G&G MK5 is already the best looking, best performing, and most reliable MK5 available. Now, G&G has added their state-of-the-art blowback system, and the noise it makes is like music to the ear. G&G has out done themselves with this MK5; unlike many other airsoft MK5s the G&G has a functional cocking lever, bolt catch, and bolt cover. As the cocking lever is pulled back and locked in place the bolt cover retracts; give the cocking lever a smack and it creates the most satisfying metal clang as the bolt cover slams shut. In addition to a metal upper receiver and Navy Style trigger group lower the PM5 features a one-piece metal outer barrel. The body pins common to other airsoft MK5s have been replaced with more authentic push pins that allow for realistic field stripping. Included with it is a low profile scope mount that can be used to mount a red dot scope like the G&P Red/Green Dot Sight. This is, without a doubt, the only MK5 anybody should own.

It's a great gun on paper, G&G internals, blowback, ~400 FPS, MP5, accurate, and looks great. At some point it is a great gun, but the biggest problem lies within the stock. If you look closely, the stock pin is pretty low (a trait most MP5 internals have), the problem is, that's also where the battery wire sits. The gun I received was great for a short period of time, but after the first month, the positive wire actually gave out and ripped off. Ok, it's easy fixing, no problems. Then the gearbox itself gives out. Just a loud high pitched noise (think: wind up). Another thing that's easy to fix, but again why? It's a G&G, it's supposed to be great out of the box. Tried to fix it, but I ran into another problem. The screw that holds the fire mode select switch is too small and is stripped. I can't disassemble it now. It's a great looking piece of broken equipment. Not sure if I got a lemon, but I expected a lot more from G&G
Pros:
Accurate
Blowback
Pretty Powerful
Looks Great
Balanced (with 4800 battery pack sitting in stock)
Cons:
Wire sits too low in stock
HUGE orange tip on the silencer (Hard pressed to find a suitable replacement)
Included magazine is crap (starting to split in half)
Pins are a little too big.
It looks nice, and is very solid. Blow back feature is very cool and the 'silencer' actually works a little. It's covered in HK logos and looks great. The stock can hold some pretty good sized batteries and it has low resistance wires. Bolt handle works and allows access to the hop-up and makes a satisfying click when it's sent forward.
BUT, I found out this AEG has issues. The sights are hard to see down if you use a mask (requirement for the CQB place I visit), so I had to invest in a scope mount with a riser. Additionally, it constantly jammed, double fed, or just miss fired. Sometimes, the BBs would get stuck in the 'silencer' and rattle around, making lots of noise. I tried four different brands of magazines and three different brands of BBs. Now it won't feed at all.
Also, the blowback system worked half the time and now sits open, unless I pull the cover closed with a small pair of pliers.
The gun has only be used twice and failed on the first use.
Pros:
Small or large Tamiya battery connectors.
Low resistance wiring.
Easy to handle in CQB.
Quiet with the 'silencer' was on.
Blowback
Cons:
Jam, jamming, jam, jammed. It did it constantly and now I have to take it apart.
It is picky about it's mags.
Some standard slings don't work.
Needed a scope and riser.
Miss fired BBs would land in the 'silencer', turning the AEG into a very, VERY loud rattle.
Troublesome blowback.
Not very quick on the trigger pulls at times.
