Descriptions:
The airsoft market has seen a large number of releases of the M14 from various manufacturers such as Tokyo Marui, G&G, and UTG because of its recent revival as a designated marksmen rifle for the U.S. military. Now the Echo 1 SOC 16 has arrived in the United States. The Echo 1 features a Version 7 gearbox that is compatible with most Japanese AEG aftermarket parts. The semi/full auto fire settings and the high capacity magazine make it ideal as a scout rifle with its lengthy inner barrel. The Echo 1 also comes with a M14 style scope mount that allows the user to mount various optics systems. In addition the SOC 16 replicates the functions of the M14 such as Moveable Cocking Lever, Bolt Cover, safety, and fire selector. This gun is an excelent choice for anyone who enjoys the M14 design and wants a modern twist.

It feels beautiful. The OD stock has a rubbery coating to it, so your hand feels comfortable, and the gun does not shine. The magazine and release are all metal and work fine. The bolt has an ok sound when you rack the bolt, but dosent sound like the real thing. (not as good as my AK or M4) but still works (its cosmetic, who cares?)
The heat shield above the barrel.is plastic it is a very weak, very shiny plastic. take it off, coat the inside with a layer of duct tape (1. to make it heavier, 2. if it cracks or something, you dont lose the pieces) then spray it with some flat black model paint or ULTRA FLAT Krylon paint to make it look like metal. OR just replace it with the metal part.
the gun is held together with a large amount of grub screws (or set screws, whatever you prefer to call them) since they dont lock into a hole, and merely put pressure on everything, you need to keep tightening them after every game to keep your gun from rattling, or your entire front sight from just falling off the gun.
get rid of the Hicaps. They suck. Its an M-14. the RS counterpart only has 20 rounds. You want to use an M14. buy 100rd magazines and load 24 rounds, so you get the 20rds without having to flip your gun upside down to get all of them out. If you want 350 rounds, buy a SAW. this is an infantry rifle, not a machine gun.
overall its ok. seeing as i was facing a SAW, TM Type89, Tanaka K98G, L96A1 and a fully upgraded CA G3A3, and GP-30, this gun felt like crap compared to my trusty VFC AKS-74. It isnt overly accurate. I was using AIrsoft Elite .2g ammo with it, and it was still misfiring a bit and having issues. I watched the bbs float through the woods and stop at the first leaf they hit. My friend's CA G36, i just watched it rip through all the leaves.
you want a good gun, go with the Echo1 Vector Arms line. This is still a normal ECHO1, and it shows.
too much plastic. Too many issues.
get the E1 Vector Arms M-14EBR. WAY better than this, only about $100 more, but you get what you pay for. this will leave you disssapointed.
