Ares M4A1 Carbine AEG Airsoft Rifle (Tan)
[R14D00][07137 / AEG-17-DE]New to airsoft? Here are some safety tips for airsoft guns that we recommend following.
The New ARES Full Metal M4A1 Airsoft Gun retains all of the great features from it's predecessor but also comes with a few great new features. The exterior is exquisite, the full metal construction is very realistic. The multi-piece barrel is constructed of metal as is the front sight and sling swivel that are attached to it. The metal body looks amazing, especially with Ares' helmet and spear logo on the side of the magazine well. Most of the improvements on this gun have been made to the interior. The piston has been reinforced and looks similar to the Prometheus POM piston. The Piston head is now made of polycarbonate and ported for an air tight seal. Perhaps the most noticeable change is the hop up, it is no longer attached to the gearbox. Ares have opted for a more traditional one piece design. The back of the gearbox features Ares' quick change spring guide, which makes it extremely easy to change the FPS on the gun based on what field you happen to be playing at that day. This is a properly engineered gun, inside and out, anyone considering buying a full metal M4 would be delusional not to consider the Ares into their pool of possibilities.

For the price of this thing, it's probably the best M4 on the market. It features a lot of really cool stuff and very few faults, all for a fraction of the cost of other brands. Externally it's pretty sweet looking; the matte khaki color blends in much better than black guns, and will have all your friends oogling over it. The charging handle is funcitonal and exposes the hop-up, and has a nice bolt release function (which sounds much better than even the VFC's bolt release). The stock has no wobble (which is rare for an M4), and the buffer tube is the same as the real steel, so if you want a new stock, go searching for a real one. Internally, the gun scores solid points too. The spring is easily interchangeable, and the hop-up at its lowest setting is more than enough to hit targets at 75 feet or so. The only problems I've had with the gun are that the body pins are actually screwed in with a hex screw I believe (a little bit of a hit for realistic disassembly), and the flash hider is threaded clockwise (most airsoft guns are counter-clockwise threads), so if you have a silencer/custom flash hider, chances are it won't work (unless it has a clockwise thread... which it probably won't, but you should know better than I do). Another little quirk was that some screws were loose in the gun when I recieved it, including the screw for the front sigt near the bayonet lug; this is a really simple fix though that just involved tightening them with various sized hex-screw drivers. OVERALL: in the field, it's a good gun and well worth the money. It definitely can compete with the high-end market, even at its mid-end price.
Pros:
Looks.
Full metal, good balance.
Comes with quality, mid-cap magazine.
Good internals and externals.
Great trigger pull and rate of fire.
Good accuracy and power out of the box, but it's easy to upgrade both.
This is a VERY good cost-benefit deal.
Cons:
Clockwise threaded flash hider.
A few loose screws (very simple fix).
Handguard holes are sealed (get a full RIS, or just duct tape stuff on).
This is a great gun! First of all it's full metal expect the stock, pistol grip, and hand guard, but that's how it is on the real one too. It has a pretty insane rate of fire with a 9.6 in it, also it has plenty of battery space in the hand guard. It has an awesome trigger pull and can easily get a decent ROF on semi. It has a nice weight to it but if your weak you'll get tired quick. Also this is VERY accurate it's about has accurate as my Echo1 ASR. I've only used this in a one on one battle against a sniper so far. I kept him pinned down so he didn't even get a shot off, but i ran outta ammo. I would definatley recommend this to some one who is dedicated to airsoft .
Pros:
Full metal
Good mag capacity
Accurate
Perfect FPS
Lovely charging handle and release
Great Quality and good price for it
Cons:
Slight hand guard wobble
Drains batteries (who cares)
Both of those very minor cons
Had this gun for a while and it is awesome! Its rate of fire is slow but it performs very well at 80ft. The gun is built very nice with both the upper and the lower receivers are made of metal and engraved with the the Ares insignia. The bolt catch and the charging handle are very fun to play with as they make a satisfying click whenever you rack the gun. The hand-guard has limited space for a nun-chuck battery and is sometimes difficult to even close the hand-guard with the battery inside. The wiring is a little faulty probably because of the tight fit but most of the time it functions very well. The magazine feeds well too but doesn't hold too many bb's since it is a mid-cap. The trigger pull is extremely nice and crisp
Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend anyone to buy this gun.
Pros:
Great build quality (full metal)
Functional bolt and bolt-catch
Nice Magazine
Pretty accurate at 80ft with .20g bb's
Nice trigger pull
Quick change feature
Cons:
Tight battery space (sometimes squeezes the wires causing it not to work)
Slow rate of fire on full-auto
