I recently purchased the AMP tracer unit. I fell into the trap of believing the more that you pay for something, the better quality it will be. The build quality is good, and the piece itself is sturdy. On the other hand, once you install the two required batteries the go dead very soon. The unit doesn't have and on/off switch so the battery life continues to ebb even when you are not firing it. Another problem, is that it doesn't light up the bb's bright enough. As a result AMP units have been "banned" by many of the local teams because they do not illuminate nearly as well as some of the other units by JG, Echo 1, or Tokyo Marui. I was severely disappointed by this unit when friends payed half as much for a JG and they illuminate the bb's ten times as well *** Would somebody please build a tracer unit that is reliable and that has a quick detach feature!!!***
Pros:
Nice fit and finish
Cons:
Batteries more expensive than AAA
Saps batteries seemingly instantly
Extremely poor illumination of tracer BB's
when these first came out, they were the most inexpensive tracer units i could find. i bought 2 for me and my brother. my airsoft group, Rochester airsoft (RAS) uses tracer units for night games, and one night we decided to ambush the other team at there camp sight. i was in charge of signaling the attack, but right when i needed my tracer to work, it failed. epic fail for my whole team, and all because of this tracer. its design is awful, fragile internally, battery's are a pain, no on/off switch, and its just overall not a good buy.
a friend of mine waited, and got the ECHO 1 tracer. blows mine out of the water, its so much better. or you could go with TM, they are crazy too. but save your money, dont waist it on this. you will thank me later.
Pros:
metal body
not too expensive
fit my m16 easily
worked ok (until i needed it too)
Cons:
battery's are a pain to deal with
fragile internally
not accurate all the time
no on/off switch
not reliable at all
Only reason i gave it one star is because ASGI wont let me give it none. one star is too generous for this tracer.
One i would like to debunk the review below mine. The instructions clearly say remove batteries when not in use. The Build is strong and full metal except for the tracer itself. The battery life, if you want an estimation. About two to three games ASSUMING YOU FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS THEY GIVE YOU. The illumination is a bit dim, but not horrible. Here is a firing test. Sorry if the video has been removed before you could see it.

oh yeah I actually own this
Pros:
-Metal externals and seemingly strong internal tracer (some plastic parts but will not break if tracer is taken care of)
-Battery life is good. If you follow the instructions
Cons:
-Not as bright as the others, still plenty usable
