I recently received this gun in the mail from Airsoft G.I. last week. Before even opening the box, I was impressed. The outside of the box comes with the Magpul PTS label and the box is very nice. When opening the box, there were two layers of foam; one above the gun and one below it. Inside, there was a p-mag from Mapgul in a very nice bag, along with a metal flash hider (seen here in the picture). The crane stock, hand guard, pistol grip and metal receiver are all of top quality and are marked with the universal Magpul logo.
Of course I had to open this beauty up to make sure that the internals were as good as the outer shell. Upon removing the pistol grip, I was surprised to see a M120 High Speed G&P motor inside. After disassembling further, I discovered that the hop up is metal, and of good quality. The wiring was done well, as is wired to the front with an inline fuse. The gearbox seems to be a strong reinforced gear box, with ball bearing bushings. Opening the gearbox, my eyes lit up. The gears are all G&P's high speed gears, with a matching piston. The spring is of good quality as well. The gun had already been shimmed, and seemed to run flawlessly. The trigger spring is also very tight, adding a more realistic trigger pull to the gun.
The few problems I have with the gun are mostly personal preferences. The dust cover does not close, which isn't that big of a deal, but I like the option. Also the forward assist does not do anything, it's just there. On some other models, it actually will take the tension off of the spring in the gear box by forwarding the gears to their starting point of their cycle in the gear box. The cover that is pulled back by the charging handle is a cheap piece of metal, and does not come back as far as I'd like it to. You can work on your hop up, but it could move more.
I do not have a chrono station, or a way of telling how high the rate of fire is, but all I can say is that this thing rips. The hand guard will comfortably fit a mini battery type, or a nun-chuck crane stock type very snuggly (this takes a little time moving the wires around to fit in well). I can say that I emptied a 130 round mid cap in about six seconds with this thing on a 9.6V Intellect battery.
In wrapping up, this is a great gun to purchase. For everything that you get in this gun, it is definitely worth the price. In the picture, the gun looks great. But once you are holding it in your hand, it's unreal. I would highly suggest this gun to anyone who is a Magpul fanatic like myself.
-All of Magpul's finest furniture.
-Great quality metal and other parts
-Top of the line internals
-Good hop up and inner barrel
-Aesthetics are amazing
-Great ROF and decent FPS
-Good price considering everything that you are getting
-Because the gun is wired to the front, the wires are pinched into a small compartment between the receiver and the hand guard.
-The flash hider does not close, which is not a big deal, but I would like to see it close.
-Also, when pulling the charging handle, the slide does not come back very far at all, just enough to get to the hop up but barely.
-The forward assist does not have a function like the G&G Combat machine that I own.
