I didn't really need another gun but I was very curious about the buzz about Echo 1 products. I was surprised how fast Airsoft GI sent it out and how helpful the folks were that I spoke to.

I chronoed the gun with 0.20s out at Lenix and it came in consistently at 345 fps each of the three times I measured. Impressive.

Next I shot off some bursts and found grouping to be fairly close despite the short barrel. I have no numbers for you on this though.

It fed well all day long but I confess this is was the first and only time I took it out so far.

I was disappointed that the handguard was too small to easily put in the mini battery. In fact, the handguard warped around the battery when it wasn't placed just right. Further, the ring doesn't have much tension on it to hold the handguard it. I will eventually have to wire it to the rear or just tolerate the problem with some kind of Mickey Mouse jerry-rigging.

Another downside is the NiCad battery it comes with. These are problems for airsofting (do some research). As NiCads go, it is fine. My problem is that it is a NiCad to start with.

My plan was to roll the dice with a measly $135 and see if I like it. I do. It performed well outside of the annoyances I mentioned. I will use it and abuse until it breaks then upgrade it once it proves itself to be a reliable platform.

This weapon is not just for n00bs. Echo 1 is here to stay. If you think about it, all these airsoft guns do is propel plastic a few dozen yards. In that capacity, Echo's M733 is a solid value.
