When this gun arrived I expected it to be ready to shoot out of the box, with a tight-bore barrel, large METAL magazine, and an ADJUSTABLE TRIGGER PULL?! Wow I thought this would make me feel like a real sniper.
I was prepared to upgrade it, but the most upgrading you can do without modification is the spring, NOT the piston for consistency, NOT the cylinder for less friction, the spring. For me that was all I was going to need.
I never upgraded or even modified this M40, I got it because like others I find the exterior of the m40 system attractive.
I returned this gun not once, but TWICE to be sure that I didn't get a lemon. Both guns misfed literally an average of 1 out of 3 shots. If your getting a sniper rifle, you want to start with reliability, worry about everything else while your upgrading. This gun has ZERO reliability. Most of the internals are mediocre, thus the heavy price, but the loading ramp is made of plastic, and broke while feeding with my first gun. Also the sears and trigger box are quite weak, I've had slam-fire after slam-fire with both guns.
My opinion is that you should be worrying more about whats going on down-range than whats going on inside the gun in your hands.
Exterior is pleasing to the eye.
Adjustable trigger pull
adjustable cheek rest
Ready for this?
smashes bb's against hop-up unit
plastic and unreliable loading system
magazine wobbles left-right when seated correctly
no consistency down range despite tight-bore
remember those smashed bbs? Well now they've found their way inside the cylinder, the lower receiver, and the loading ramp where your follow-up shots roll to the hop-up.
Kuddos to Airsoft G.I. for working with me through this hot mess of a gun, APS and Hukkotsu have proven to me that their guns are degenerate. If I had the power, I'd discontinue this gun before too many people have the same horrible experience with it.
