Product Information:
So I've owned this gun for about a month, have put around 10,000 rounds through it, and have skirmished with it; so here's my review. This gun is an excellent piece of machinery. ASGI and G&G have really outdone themselves on this. This is basically a new version of ASGI's most popular custom carbine, the G4-A3. They have taken a lot of feedback from their customers and the results are spectacular. To start, the receiver is a very strong nylon polymer, not ABS plastic, which is pretty scratch resistant and will keep your gearbox safe. Rather than a standard Milspec grip, it comes included with a textured tango-down style grip that is very comfortable to shoot and makes the gun look more unique. The upper and lower receivers are very solidly screwed together and have very little wiggle. The barrel assembly is metal, probably high grade aluminum or anodized steel, and is absolutely solid. The rail system is different from the G4-A3 because it is completely monolithic and is VERY securely attached to the delta-ring. Some of the older G4-A3's would have about a quarter inch between the rail system and the upper receiver and would wobble after a while. But ASGI has fixed that with these new rails. The system itself is extremely strong and scratch resistant. I don't think you could break it unless you ran it over with a truck or took a reciprocating saw to it. However, the rails are somewhat sharp and can scratch your hands so I would recommend shooting with gloves, which you should be doing anyway because getting shot in the hand REALLY hurts. Also, the last 4 inches of the barrel can be screwed off, revealing 14mm CCW threading which is perfect for suppressors. Now I shortened my over-all length by installing a shorter inner barrel to make my barrel about 10 inches instead of about 14.5 to make it easier to wield in cqb. Also, the flash hider is not glued on, just unscrew it with an Allen key and twist it off. So if you want to shorten or lengthen your barrel, you won't have to buy a whole new barrel assembly. Rather than a triangle sight, ASGI has placed a gas block with a front flip-up sight. The sight does have a slight wobble to it, but you can certainly tighten that and it won't affect your aim. The rear iron sight is removable and spring loaded, the front sight is not. On the rear of the receiver, there is a mount for a one-point sling. I was kinda disappointed that there weren't more sling mounts because I run a 3-point sling and there's only one sling mount. No big deal though. Don't let that stop you from buying this gun. The sling mount itself is totally solid. It's not gonna come loose from the buffer tube or break, so you can be confident using it on the field. This gun also comes with the G&G crane stock which I think is one of the best, if not the best, crane stock on the market. There is almost no wobble and it has this system that makes it easier to install your batteries. You don't need a screwdriver to open your stock. Just pop off the back plate and remove the battery retainer and you're good to go. It literally takes 10 seconds once you practice it a few times. Also, this system allows you to retract the stock almost all the way to the back, which is nice, but doesn't really matter to me because I'm 6'2 and I use position 6 on the stock anyway, but if you're shorter, that will be a welcome feature to you. The forward assist is functional and will release the spring tension by trippin the anti-reversal latch. So whenever you're done shooting for the day, before you lock up your gun, push firmly on that forward assist and you won't lose FPS from spring tension. When you pull back the charging handle, there is a satisfying "Clack" sound when the mock bolt pushed the dust cover open. I grinned slightly when I saw that the dust cover had "Infidel" written in Arabic and English. I am a Palestinian (Christian, not Muslim) and I sometimes run a Shemagh instead of my MICH helmet so this was kinda ironic and I'm sure you will enjoy the looks you get when you take it to the field. I was kinda hoping for a functional bolt-catch. That would have added to the realism and made it easier to adjust the hop-up. But don't let that stop you from buying this gun, everything else definitely outweighs it. Now for the best part: the gun's performance. The gun came chrono'd at 355 FPS; perfect for CQB and adequate for field. I tested the accuracy and precision at 125 ft could be improved by some enhanced bucking or a longer barrel, but I would advise against tightbores and here's why: where this gun really shines is the ROF. After lubing everything and cleaning the barrel, I popped in my G&G 9.6 volt battery to break in the gearbox and sight in the hop-up and iron sights. My eyes almost popped outta my skull when I saw how many rounds this thing could squeeze off! After sighting everything in, I got three eighty-round mid-caps and timed how long it took to dump them individually and I averaged the results. The figure I came up with was (no joke) 29.64 rounds per second! There are a lot of guns that can't do that with an 11.1 lipo! I haven't tried this with an 8.4, but I wouldn't doubt that alot of guns couldn't match the ROF even if they used a 9.6. When you pull that trigger, there is just a steady steam of BBs that tears up anything it's pointed at. At first, I was planning on sticking a tightbore on this gun, but I would not recommend that. The gun's strongest point is the upgraded G&G motor which grants it such a high rate of fire. A tightbore would increase the likelihood of jams or other malfunctions. Plus, when I skirmished with it, as long as I aimed the crosshairs over the enemy and squeezed off a 10-15 round burst, a good deal of the rounds hit their targets. So you don't really need to make this a DMR because with a rate of fire this high, it doesn't need to be super accurate. I'm telling you, this thing is an absolute DEATH MACHINE. Just slap a box mag and you've got yourself a SAW or a minigun. Now as for the blowback; Some people say it's a useless feature that 11-years olds think is really cool and just adds stress on the gearbox. First, the G&G blowback system is a patented pneumatic system, which does not put extra stress on the gearbox and will not increase wear and tear on the gearbox. Second, it DOES look and SOUND really cool which does make your gun unique on the field. However, it does have a distinct tactical advantage. If you dry-fire this gun, the blowback sounds completely different than if you fire it with BBs. If you run midcaps, you will know immediately when you're empty and If you run high-caps, you will know immediately when it's time to wind. Also, rather than a high pitched "Whine" sound that most other guns have, this gun has a more low-profile "Clack-clack-clack" sound which gives your gun a unique sound profile. All in all, this is an EXCELLENT gun and I have had no problems with it so far. Should I encounter any problems, I will write another view, but until then, I would HIGHLY recommend this gun to newer players or battle-hardened veterans and I will continue to use this as my primary weapon until it breaks, I get tired of it, or I get rich enough to buy a VFC or something.
