For: King Arms Full Metal Blow Back Galil SAR AEG Airsoft GunProduct Information:
The King Arms Galil SAR does not get the attention it deserves. I am surprised that no one has been willing to put up a review of it before me.
To start, the gun's full metal design is SUPERB, made with both Steel and Aluminum parts. It's externals are beautifully crafted and the trades are engraved into the sides in accurate, REAL markings such as: 'S.AUTO GALIL, CAL .223 REM, MODEL 392, IMI-ISRAEL' 'ISRAEL MILITARY INDUSTRIES LTD. (I.M.I)
-These trademarks are in ENGLISH. This is an advantage to me but may be a flaw for real Israel Defense Force collectors. I prefer the english markings over the Hebrew ones like on the ICS because, hmph, I can READ them.
-The gun's body and folding stock are an extremely sturdy STEEL construction and have no wobble at all. The stock is a little stiff to fold out of the box but loosens to a comfortable level over time. The stock folds to the right, which is realistic but can get in the way of the selector switch. Everything on the gun is constructed of metal but the hand guard, buttplate, and grip, which are made of high quality Nylon Fibre.
-The gun's barrel and gas tube have no wobble either. HOWEVER, the front hand guard does have a very small "creak" in it, which is a very small issue in the first place. It only creaks along the bottom seam when you squeeze the top as it is built in a two-part construction. The hand guard is built of a very sturdy, yet comfortably soft plastic (Nylon Fibre) that feels solid and falls very nicely into the hand. The gun comes with a 14mm counter-clockwise threaded barrel that is extremely sturdy and can take replacement flash hiders.
-The gas tube battery installation is simple, and although removing it appears flimsy, it is the same build as the real steel Galil, and fits very snugly into the gun when assembled back together. A note about batteries for this gun: A 9.6v 1400 mAh NiMH Stick Type is recommended. I have used both the brands Intellect and Tenergy, and the Tenergy was a bit too big by barely a little and was stripped when I tried to put it in. The Intellect fit snugly but was a perfect fit and worked great. The Intellect also seemed to have a higher ROF than the Tenergy.
I'm not eperienced enough to rate the internals, but being a King Arms model, I am told they are excellent. I can tell you from what I know that it has stock: A 7mm reinforced modified V3 Gearbox with bolt blowback mechanism, and a high quality 6.04mm barrel. I purchased this gun about a year ago on 3/31/10 and have had ZERO problems since then.
Overall, the gun is built like a tank, as the real Galil should be. It is sturdy, with absolutely no wobble anywhere except a TINY bit in the magazine (which can be expected/easily fixed) and in the very small creaking of the hand guard. It is accurate, the ROF is meancing, and the EBB feature is a head turner on the battlefield. If you're looking for a Galil and catch this gun in stock, SNAG it. These go out literally every other day and for a REASON.
-Full metal Steel and Aluminum Construction.
-Sturdy, solid build with nice finish and real Trademarks. (In English)
-Simple Battery installation.
-High ROF (with Intellect 9.6v 1400mAh Stick Type Battery). It's FAST.
-7mm reinforced modified V3 Gearbox with intimidating patented bolt blowback. The Blowback feature is specially designed so you can't break the gun by accidentaly blocking the bolt.
-High quality 6.04mm barrel.
-Accurate even on automatic.
-Solid 300-320 FPS. (PERFECT for CQB)
-130 Round Midcap steel magazine. Stock-mag wise, it can only use King Arms. But AK mags can be dremel-modified to work just as well.
-Easy to use iron sights and secondary flip-up night sights. (Which can be modified to have tritium inserts for glow in the dark sights).
-Solid sling mounts.
-14mm CC threaded barrel that can take replacement flash hiders and/or barrel extensions if desired. (Gun comes with separate steel constructed flash hider to replace the orange one it is shipped with.)
-Better than other brands of the Galil. I know it's superior stock to the CYMA internally, and even though I have no experience with ICS, just check ASGI's boneyard. King Arms is never there. ICS Galil is for sale there for 176$.
-Tiny creak if the hand guard is squeezed in the wrong way.
-Hard to find a scope mount and/or accessories for this gun. King Arms was supposed to be releasing some but they have yet to come out.
-STOCK-wise, only King Arms mags work, but AK mags CAN be modifed to fit.
You will NOT be disappointed with this gun.
