I had been playing airsoft for almost 5 years and had an Echo 1 MP5, Echo 1 M4, KWA USP, and AUG A1. Christmas was coming up and my budget allowed me to get a couple new guns. I was checking around and wanting something that was accurate at a distance but was also capable of assaults. I saw the G3 and loved the overall look of it, so I decided, after reading reviews all over the internet, that the JG G3 would be worth a shot. I was skeptical about JG but held hopes.
It arrived on time and I opened it on Christmas. I hooked the battery up to the charger and used some of that time to get a feel for the gun.
It's somewhat light for a gun of it's size, but it isn't bad. The iron sights have 4 settings, three holes and one notch, and I found the notch was the easiest to aim through. If you bought an RAS attachment for an MP5 it will fit perfectly to the G3, which was a relief for me. Putting in the battery takes a bit of getting used to but once you do it's simple. Sturdy construction and a sweet look convinced me that externals get a 5/5.
Once the battery was charged I hooked it up, loaded up the included hi-cap, and hit the airsoft field on my property. One shot was all it took to convince me that I had taken a gamble and won the hand. With a nice, solid feel the G3 shoots .20s at about 380 FPS (out of the box) and has incredibly tight groupings on both semi- and full-auto, which was VERY impressive. The hop-up does cause a sharp curve up after a certain distance, how far I'm not sure, but that can be fixed if you get inside and adjust it. If you get a scope to add to this weapon, your pure intimidation factor is enormous, and combining it with the performance of the gun will make your enemies want to quit.
JG's consistently excellent products leave me with basically no complaints about the gun. I recommend this for ANYONE, whether you're just getting into airsoft or are looking to expand your current arsenal.
(As a note, the gun is 3.5 feet from butt stock to flash hider. Specs were annoying to find, so there's that for you.)
-High FPS out of box
-Easily modified for sniper purposes
-Hop-up needs immediate adjustment for long-range effectiveness
