Product Information:
I, too, got this RIS on my Desert G4-A3, but pulled it in favor of a Daniel Defense RIS (to make my own G4-18!). I have just got done installing it on my JG Stubby Killer instead, so I decided I owed ASGI a review.
First off, I had 0 problems installing the unit, no trouble with the Allen screws (BTW an Allen wrench is the ONLY tool you need for a complete installation). Now I have a Stubby Killer conversion with a silencer barrel extension so it's basically an SD unit.
The great thing about the DragonFire is that it's big enough internally for any type silencer etc. to fit inside without any trouble, due to the humongous dimensions of the unit (the photo doesn't do it justice). The drawback to that is that it looks a little over-large unless you mount it on an SD conversion; this is just my personal taste though, don't let me put you off if you really like the looks of the RIS. The forend looks great on my G4-A3 Tactical Carbine, so maybe it's just a matter of the proportions, long barrel vs. short barrel.
Also, I had no problems getting a vertical grip affixed to my DragonFire, you just have to screw it down hard (and I mean HARD) so it doesn't slide along the RIS.
Overall this is one of the best RIS units I've seen. It certainly looks distinctive and aggressive, and it's definitely a change from the usual Daniel Defense look. If you're looking for a unique RIS for your M4, you can do a lot worse than the DragonFire.
Pros:
Solid construction
Extremely easy to install, only 1 tool required
Aggressive & unique look
Big enough for installation over a short barrel + silencer combination
Cons:
None, if you like the looks of it |

Product Information:
This is the rail system that came on my Airsoft GI G4-A3. There is zero wobble in either the barrel or the rail system and the whole thing looks very impressive.
However, I've encountered a problem. I bought a standard vertical grip (which is the primary reason why I wanted a rail system on my M4) and it won't lock into place. Most vertical grips use a little peg that you tighten by a knob in the bottom to lock into the rail, but as you can see in the picture, each rail has a lengthwise groove cut into it. Thus, while the grip slides onto the rail perfectly, there's no way for it to lock in. I'll have to install a screw to hold it in place now.
Pros:
Solid and tight-fitting
Excellent looks
Cons:
Can't use a vertical grip without alteration (design flaw, IMO) |

Product Information:
I bought this RIS about 1 week ago. The service from airsoftgi was quick and accurate, as all the other times I have ordered from them. I received the product yesterday. I think they where a little exagerated with the huge box to house the rather small box where the RIS comes in, but its ok.
The RIS itself is built extremely well. Being CNC you cannot see any seams, and the product feels very robust. The delta ring shares the same quality the RIS does. Its built from very strong CNCd aluminium, and the threads are also very well done: they fitted the m4a1 body without any mods.
However, I have a gripe with this product: The screws it comes with to adjust the whole RIS unit to the delta ring are VERY cheap. First off, they are ALLEN screws, which I could not get why they where made that way.. allen screws are best used on screws that do not need to be tightened that much. Secondly, the allen slot was pretty badly done. They where almost completely round. I fitted the delta ring and the RIS on the gun to test fit. I then screwed the screws and "spacers" that tighten the RIS (These spacers are well built, unlike the screws). As soon as the screw started tightening, the allen slot stripped completely, leaving the screw useless, and resulting in me having to cut it to take it out. Then, the other screw also stripped. This one I took out by dremeling a line across it to use a flat screwdriver. Luckily, I did not scratch my RIS at all in all this. I will be buying some steel replacement screws shortly.
Pros:
RIS and Delta ring are very nice
Lettering on the RIS looks also pretty nice
Durable surfaca, it does not scratch easily
Perfect fit on my gun
Relatively cheap, if you look at the other 90-100$ RIS units
It looks pretty unique
Cons:
Screws are EXTREMELY badly built, maybe they where just mine, but I suggest you buy some steel replacement ones from any hardware store. Just bring the original one and one of the threaded spacers to test fit. |

Just installed this on a JG M4 CQB-R and it works beautifully. Simply remove the front sight, then replace the delta ring and screw this bad boy on. Absolutely zero barrel wobble as well as zero rail wobble. Extremely durable. A unique and very beautiful free float RIS. A must buy.
Pros:
No wobble

Great price
Unique

I just got this in, kinda confused because it did not come with a manual or instructions. Easy to figure it out though, Only drawback is the when you get the unit screwed on, you cant(this is on an early model JG M4) tighten the screws onto the piece that covers the barrel, and has the front sight. So now my front sight just wobbles around and is not secured to the gun. I do not know how to fix it, I might have to cut a hole in my brand new RIS system, I just might cry ;)
yeah but a good, cheap thing, but very sturdy and well made, its 100% C&C so no molding marks. Nice all in all, just a bit confusing. |

Great RIS for my marui M-4. It replaces the stock ring as well, and the new metal one completely got rid of my barrel wobble. One thing tho is you will need to cut a small part of the barrel holder off... two tabs on either side of it wont fir through the new ring. But this little mod is well worth it. The finish is great and it gives the m-4 a much more tactical look. Be sure to get a battery box with this tho! a small battery wont fit inside it (neither will the marui fuse assembely). Very solid, looks and feels great. |
