||Hi, this is Alex, NOT Alison.
Wow, what a gun! I received mine about a week ago but I promised myself that I had to skirmish with it before I wrote about it. And well, I did so in a cqb match at the new field in Denver. This thing outperformed all the other AEGs there by far, and let me tell you, there was some tough competiton!
A Classic Army G36 and A CA M15A4 (Classic Army version of the PCR-97)
Speaking of Classic Army, boy am I glad I bought the ICS version instead! Let me tell you why: If you've read the description of the PCR than you know that it has a spring tension release button that also functions as a foward assist (unjams the gearbox), well this little button makes all the difference against the CA because that CA m15a4I was against actually jammed early on and put the owner out of a primary weapon, making him having to use his KWA Glock all day because his AEG was jammed and was going to have to be taken apart and fixed by an Airsoft tech (who happened to not be at the field that day) In case I've lost you with my rambling story, what I'm saying is that his gearbox jammed and if this happened to me I would simply push the foward assist button and go back to playing! (See how ICS is better than Classic Army?) But in his case he has no foward assist on his CA and now must do one of two things: 1. Take the gun back to the store or 2. pay a professional to take apart the gearbox and fix his little jam. So with that said it's pretty obvious that the ICS is superior, but if that story didn't get you thinking than this will: While I was at the CQB field I chronoed this gun with their fancy chronograph and it averaged about 370 FPS, the high was 384 and the low was 352. This was done after I'd put a good 4,000 rounds through it so thats what she'll be staying at, especially since I can release the spring tension for storage so she doesn't lose power over time. Now for the looks: When I pulled the bubble wrap off this baby and saw her for the first time I was very suprised, I'd heard that ICS M4's had a gray body that looked awful with the shiny black foregrip and stock. But this is the newest version and that isn't the case, the rock solid metal body is the darkest gray possible, infact, you might as well call it black! The hanguard is the only downside of the gun, unlike the CA's nylon fiber it is mabe of simple ABS, also when there is no battery in it, it can move left to right and moves the front sight with it. When there is a battery in this is not a problem, and if your obsessive like me you can always buy a replacement. Other than that the gun's exterior is phenomenal. Not too heavy for a full metal gun and it is perfectly balanced. The split gearbox design is amazing, you can do what ever you want to the internals in a flash!
Power: 370 FPS (chronoed), Shot a hole into my bedroom door through a coke can target!
Rate of fire: Faster than Angelina Jolie can adopt Cambodian orphans!
Accuracy: This gun is built with precision in mind, so it's dead accurate
Range: Haven't tested, but I've heard it is very very far
Hop-up: Easy to adjust in combat (CA M15A4 requires a tool), works very well
Magazine: 450 rounds, feeds flawlessly
1. only use batteries 1100 mAh and above, I tried a 8.4v 600 and it was not at all up to my standards, also buy a small to large connector if you already have large batteries and you can ghetto-use them in this gun!
2. Buy it here, Airsoft Gi is a wonderful company with great customer service
3. Don't buy it anywhere else because you'll probaly end up with the old version that isn't pre-upgraded, more importanly you won't get the Turbo 3,000 motor!
4. Buy a G&P 130 round midcap mag, no winding
5. Use only the best BB's, I prefer Airsoft Elite brand, they are as close to flawless as it gets
6. Give it a name, mine is called Linda.
It's ROF makes a KWA Mac11 look slow
Solid as hell
Pulling back on the charging handle makes a loud CHA-CHINK! and opens the dust-cover
Foward Assist/ Tension release
Made by ICS and they are obsessive about making everything perfect so you have no worries
ICS=reliabilty and innovation, this gun is a prime example
It's an M4 and they have more accesories available for them than a Honda Civic!
Easily upgradable, even stupid people can do it on their own!
You can change the FPS in about a minute if you have the upgraded upper-gearbox from Airsoft Elite handy, sells here for $90
Turbo 3000 motor baby!
Suprisingly quiet operation
Scary power (depends on how you look at it, pro and con in my opinion)
Reciever pins are dificult to push out, but nothing to complain about
Leaves scars (Also changes with opinion)
This is the best AEG $300 will get you, no doubt about that
Afew things to remember:
Don't even consider the CA version, it's a wonderful gun, but this one is far better in many ways.
Give yourself a pat on the back for reading this whole review!
