I'm currently serving in the US Army in a combat arms role. Based on some training I was a part of led by members of the special operations community I wanted to try out a new gear configuration for my combat load. As an officer I have to buy my own gear. So before I drop $300+ on a plate carrier I wanted to see if this configuration would work for me. I'm 6'8" 230 lbs and have a 42" chest- I'm a big dude.
At the end of the day I'm glad I didn't lose too much money on this. I like the split configuration of running a slick plate carrier with a battle belt with all my ammo, IFAK and sidearm, but this product will end up in the lessons learned pile.
-Adjusts relatively well (fit my frame with cummerbund fully extended and plates in)
-Lots of storage options
-Did the manufacturer ever try this on after they designed it? Way too many extra straps and fabric that are unnecessary and could have used two minutes of design consideration prior to production.
-It's heavy all by itself.
-The camo pattern does not match my uniform. At best it's closest to the cheap bags recruiters hand out. It's far too gray.
-Two mags will not fit in the pouches.
-Cannot fully close velcro enclosures with medium SAPI plates inserted. Large plates will not fit.
-Admin panel is too narrow for name tapes
-Drag handle is a misnomer. Maybe for dragging the rig by itself.
