For: Zan Neoprene Half Face Mask (Marpat)Product Information:
I picked this up as a cheap, but effective face mask... but boy was I wrong!
It is very comfortable and fits easily, but I noticed it was causing my Lancer Tactical CA-211T goggles to fog up. Now if you are thinking it was the goggles fault, check again. The LT has been given high rating and reviewed by 95 customers.
If I were to use a breathable wire mesh mask, the fogging would not be an issue according to those who run that setup and from the airsoft games that i played, wire mesh mask and some sort of breathable goggles were the norm.
So that was the first issue I encountered. The next was the protection factor of the mask its self. From my testing, I was shot from 20ft away in the mouth w/ the mask. The hit gave me a welt on my upper lip and I felt the contact on my front tooth. Luckily the mask and my lip provided enough padding to not chip the tooth, but if my mouth were to be open, I can imagine a different story.
This might be a good face mask for field games where you are at greater distance were velocity is not an issue and the whether is cold. I have not been to a field game yet, but I certainly dont rec. these for cqc
So to sum it all for those interested
-fits well for a avg size man (not sure if mask would fit well for kids under 13)
-can keep your face warm and wet with perspiration ( i could see this as a practical use for skiing or snowboarding just to keep your face warm)
-can cause goggles to fog from my experience
-not enough padding to keep my face from receiving a welt (almost chipped a tooth, read my story above)
-muffles voice slightly
