Now to start off, this was my first airsoft gun I bought about 2 years ago as well as my first review. And it still shoots like I just got it. I'm no expert but this gun still has me impressed with its performance. I run a 11.1v Lipo and a mosfet and it was really nice trigger response. As the previous reviews have said, the peq box is shit. Its extremely large and bulky and just gets in the way. A must replacement. A problem no one else seemed to have is when I took the screws out of the upper reciever, they looked like they were covered in some type of glue and would not screw back when I cleaned off the glue. I had to work around that. As for the Orange plastic flash hider, it cracked when I tried unscrewing it but who really cares. I was not a fan of the extremely low profile iron sights that aren't even adjustable so I highly recommend an optic or something.I'm not the type of guy to try to upgrade internals, I've only actually opened up the gearbox once to look at it and they still hold up two years later. I probably won't open it up again until something breaks. There isn't much else I can say about the internals since I don't really open it up. As for the mags, thank god they now have mid caps. It was so hard to find them years ago no one had them but now that isn't the case. My two high caps that came with my gun have jammed a few times and wobble but the echo1 mid caps I buy work perfectly. Overall, if you want a heavy weight full metal gun and looking for something different. Look into this, it's a beautiful gun(aside from the peq box that comes with it). I'd highly recommend it to anyone.

Sturdy internals (stood up to a 11.1v Lipo for almost 2 years)
Solid construction very well put together
Bolt is functional and replacements are available
Selector switch works perfectly
Plenty of rail space

PEQ box
Iron sights
Pro/con heavy, around 10lbs and definately front heavy with the skeleton stock and battery in the front
Hard to find replacement parts
Non ambidextrous

This is essentially an airsoft version of the FAL OSW or an SA58 Tactical, if that's what you're looking for. I have to say, this is a great gun. I am very glad I bought it. It is very sturdy, being that this thing is all metal except for the pistol grip and the muzzle break. But even then the plastic is tough. NOTHING about the SOF1 feels cheap. I was actually very surprised on how heavy it is. With battery, BBs, and optics, this thing is pushing 10-12lbs. About what I would expect the real steel version to weigh. I had a chance to take it out on a skirmish, and it performed flawlessly.

It came with 2 high-cap metal magazines, a PEQ box, and an 8.4v NiMH battery. The only complaint I have with it is that the PEQ box is total garbage. This PEQ is as cheap as they come. I feel like if I drop it off my bed, it would break. I had to modify it in order to fit a 9.6v nunchuck in it. I highly suggest getting a better quality PEQ box for it.

In conclusion, the positives out weight the negatives on this gun. You get a lot for the price, including quality. If you are looking to stand out and you don't want an M4 or AK variant, I highly recommend this gun.

Full metal construction
Sturdy, No cheap feeling to it
Excellent rate of fire
Excellent range for a short barrel
Comes with 2 metal mags, 8.4v NiMH battery, and a PEQ box
Folding stock that works reliably
Realistic look and feel
Rails to mount accessories
No loose wobble of any kind, not even the mag

Terrible PEQ box
Heavy, you'll need a sling for long skirmishes
Extra magazines may be hard to find and may be expensive
Had to tighten down some loose screws on it, nearly lost the pistol grip

Ok this is my initial response to the externals of the rifle.

Externally it is a very solid rifle with no creak or wobble with a single exception, the stock. When extended it doesn't move at all however when folded it has a decent amount of play. This is caused by a lack of anything to lock it in place. It however doesn't rattle due to the plastic plate on the end of the stock so there is no metal on metal ping. The only steel on it is the screws and the magazines. The finish on the rifle is very nice being a flat black with no gloss to it. Trades are nice and crisp and look good. However and this is a very large pet peeve of mine, they do not have a unique serial number as advertised. Every single one I have seen is S/N JAG28. Look around on images online how every single place shows the same number in the pictures if you want confirmation. PEQ box looks decent enough and isn't as cheap a feeling plastic as I suspected, however mine came stripped out from the manufacturer and pretty much useless although the wiring going to it looks like garbage. The selector switch is by far the nicest I have seen on any rifle with a similar type of assembly. Locks in with zero play or wobble. I'm going to pop open the gearbox and take a look in that later today and will update this with my opinion on that and a shooting test as well.

Overall I would say from the external perspective the pro's far out way the cons with the only real thing to get to me is the S/N. I expected to put the battery internally inside the rails(if I can get one to fit) or replace the PEQ with a better looking one and I anticipated having to replace the wiring harness with something more robust. Overall at this moment I would recommend the rifle to anyone looking for something to stand out from the M4/16 crowd or that just likes the FAL in general.

Nearly real steel weight
Beautiful external finish
Nice looking trades
Solid selector switch

Wiring for the PEQ box is garbage
PEQ box came stripped out
Not a unique S/N as advertised
