For: CA Full Metal Armalite M15A4 Rifle AEG Airsoft Gun (SV Series)Product Information:
Before owning this AEG I had been a devoted user of the Kalashnikov platforms. From CYMA to LCT and ICS, I had owned a variety of AK platforms, and this was my first Armalite gun. I chose Classic Army as a brand because of its renown for quality, and the low pricing of the Spartan Imports version. The base Classic Army M15A4 AEG is a full-metal airsoft gun with a version 2 gearbox, standard type handgaurds, semi/auto function, and triangle sight setup. As opposed to the A2 variant, the A4 has a removable carry-handle.
Externally: This gun is solid however needs some specification tuning. The upper receivers wobble, and the triangle sight needed serious tightening out of the box for me. Magazines are a tad loose but this varies by brand. APS and G&G magazines have so far been flush with the receiver for me. The weapon's finish is matt and the armalite trademarks bump the perceived realism up by a significant factor, especially when combined with a little dirt and wear after the first few games. The finish chips easily in many places (delta ring especially) but I consider this a plus as I enjoy wear on guns as a sign of use and reliability. The barrel itself is free of wobble and the charging handle will lock back if the bolt release is held down. The bold release makes a pathetic click however is useful for adjusting the sensitive hop-up. On my model, the bolt often gets stuck when released by the bolt catch and has to be pushed forward, making an annoying metal squealing noise. The receiver/bolt assembly is, as far as I can tell, strong but not solidly specced to fit tight. Everything else including the stock, grip, and carry handle are rock solid and have taken multiple impacts on the field and stayed every bit as sturdy as they were out of the box. The sling mounts are sturdy but the one below the triangle sight is a bit noisy for my taste, and must be removed to tighten the allen screw to make the front sight more sturdy.
Internally: This gun has a metal and very sensitive hop-up that seems to respond well to tuning and is consistent enough to be game-worhty out of the box. The barrel is not a tight bore but its 510mm length makes this a great DMR option. With a JBU 650mm 6.01 and stock internals, the AEG can fire an 0.2g BB out with proper tuning to around a hundred-twenty feet with effective accuracy. The rate of fire on a 2000mAh 11.1 lipo is over 20rps and the fps is 420-440. With a sector clip installed the misfeeding that commonly accompanies high ROF builds has diminished, although its long barrel and DMR build restricts me to bursts and semi-auto to avoid tearing the teflon lining. Ultimately this gun, as it comes preset with steel gears and a high torque motor, is skirmish able out of the box and accepting of the great variety of aftermarket parts available for version 2 gearboxes.
