For: Javelin Airsoft Works Full Metal M4 RIS AEG Airsoft Gun (Battery & Charger Package)Product Information:
After a 7 day waiting period, I received my Javelin JM4A1-RIS. Now, upon opening the package, I was surprised to see that there was some new form of packaging from some of Javelin's other M4 series. Coming with the package was the gun itself, a vertical foregrip (odd, there was no mention of one when purchasing it.), a sling, a high capacity M4 magazine, a small package of BB's, a cleaning/unjamming rod, 8.4 volt battery with a battery holder, and a Javelin gun works Velcro patch. Furthermore, the box came with an outdated link to a manual, and a 60 day limited warranty.
The rifle feels very nice and solid, it's completely metal, and very robust. Although there are some plastic parts on the rifle, it's nothing out of the expected, and the plastics themselves feel very fine and solid. This rifle fires about 410 feet per second with .20 gram BB's, so that exceeds my expectation of 360-380 FPS.
The rifle feels very nice and smooth, it has a decent amount of weight to it. Not too much where it's unbearable, but to the point where it isn't too light either. The pistol grip feels very strong and solid for a plastic part. Although this rifle is lovely, it does have flaws.
The first of which is the magazine well. I don't know what Javelin had in mind while making this rifle, but it doesn't fit the magazine you get very snugly at all - in fact, it's a wobbling nightmare. Although this will probably be present with any magazine you put into the mag well, you can easily suppress this wobble to a near silence with a few layers of electrical tape on the magazine itself.
The second flaw I'm having with this rifle is the battery itself. It's much to large to fit inside the hand guard, so I figured you would have to use the component that they gave you, and mount it on the rails. It made enough sense. However, this is where your nightmares begin. Half of the railing has rail covers on it, and said rail covers are near impossible to slide off. I've looked up guides on how to do it, but I have had no success. Although the top rail has room to mount the battery component, it completely blocks out your iron sights, which would force you to purchase a scope or other sort of optic. I am still at debate of how to get the rail covers off.
The finish is a little bit delicate. If you use your nails or some sort of tool on this rifle, especially with the Delta ring, you can end up putting a silver mark on the black metal. It's very easy to scratch, so be careful when handling this rifle.
If you can see past these flaws, this is a fine rifle that will probably last you for many airsoft matches. I would highly recommend this rifle.
