An absolute stunner. This gun takes the classic government 1911 look and gives it a sweet gold finish. If you have your heart set on this gun, know that you will not be disappointed should you purchase it. That said, there are a few things you should know:
Yes, the serial numbers are higher than 500. Socom Gear actually did a run of 2000 of these after the initial positive reception.
All the black parts you see in the pictures (besides the grip) are painted. This paint is not very good and will begin wearing off almost immediately. If you are more familiar with GBBs and can service them, you can take all the black parts out, and give them a thin clear coat with spray paint to protect the paint, as I did after a thin re-paint.
The orange tip is a bear to get off. however, this gun does come with a detachable threaded tip that is black. I painted the threaded tip orange, and tossed the plastic one. This way, I can enjoy the look of my gun without the tip, yet still satisfy the law should I need to do so.
Now on to the Pros and Cons
Sexy, Gold finish
Heavy, full metal construction
MEU styles grips (rubber)
High parts availability (will work with any aftermarket WE/Socom Gear parts for 1911)
Unique serial numbers
It's just plain cool.
Paint is low quality and leaves a lot to be desired
Mag has the same issue, after 2 days of use the paint began to strip.
Orange tip kills the look of this gun.
Gold finish makes this gun somewhat impractical to use on the field, although you will be asked to show it off if you do use this for games.
