APS Airgun Ltd specializes in building Simulation Training Equipment, and has recently used their knowledge to step into the airsoft market. The APS Rhino Back-up Sights are constructed of a reinforced poly-fiber that makes them lightweight while still being very durable. They mount firmly to any standard rail system and lay locked in the flat position until released by the push button system on the base. They also have a unique feature that allows them to be used as standard sights even when locked in the flat position, adding to their low profile, stealth appearance.

These back-up sights were intriguing to look at, and they do n...more>> ot disappoint. I bought a set of Dark Earth for my Desert Diablo and a set of black for my Flaming Hog (both ASGI G-4 models). The sights look terrific on both guns. Not things of great beauty, rather they make mean-looking weapons look even meaner!

They install fairly easily, and they are a very snug & secure fit on the rail (in fact, the front sight is so snug that to get it onto my Diablo PWS rail I had to slide it on from the charging handle end of the rail, then push it forward). Installation took less than 10 minutes.

These sights reminded me of HK MP-7 iron sights, which also have both low-profile and standard sights. On my G-4s the low-profile sight picture is a little problematic in that I have to crane my neck to the side and really press my cheek down to get a look through the sights. I concluded that the easiest way to use them in this configuration is just to point the gun and look down the front sight only, just aim a little low to compensate.

Where these sights really shine is in ease of deployment. The pressure of your off-hand thumb on the button (just forward of the sights) releases the latch and causes the sight to spring up with thumb-biting speed (I took about 10 minutes of experimenting to find where to press so that I don't get pinched when pushing the button, but now it's pretty well instinctive). There are no release bars to lift, no need to fumble trying to get your finger in the right place to lift a sight up off the rail- it's done almost automatically and it takes about 5 seconds to have both sights popped up and ready to roll. These sights are functional in the extreme. They also stay very firmly in place once up, but don't have to be forced back down to lock, the spring tension is just right. I would recommend them without hesitation to anyone who needs back-up sights.

Fully adjustable
Good sight picture in the "up" position (not so much in the "down")
Rapid pop-up deployment, faster than any other back-up sight I've ever used
Add great wickedness to the looks of any rifle

Cons:
Front sight base is almost *too* snug, spent 5 minutes trying to force it onto the PWS rail before finding the easier way as described above
