Chris Costa chose the word "Ludus" because it is the ancient Greek word for training, school, or sport, and is reminiscent of the schools in which the gladiators would train. The front of the shirt boasts the Costa Ludus logo of a trident and a casting net that are reminiscent of an ancient Roman parody. The back of the shirt features a much larger trident, along with the Costa name and another casting net.
