Tech's Opinion:
"The Apex Guns have pretty much the exact same internals as CA LWRC guns. The 9mm Bearings are simply 8mm's with a larger outer race. The inner barrel looks to be of good quality (steel). The piston head, cylinder head, & cylinder are of the bore-up style. Compression is good from these parts. The hopup is the metal version of the new gen VFC. This gun also has the same design blowback mechbox as Classic Army & APS. There are some minor flaws with the design choices, such as the air nozzle compression and the mechbox durability, but for the price range its a decent choice."

Fairly nice gun. Slender pistol grip, good rail system, and nice sights. Internally it is basically a CA LWRC which is a good thing. It is a nice beefy gearbox. Also shoots pretty accurately. Buffer tube also is very spacious and the wiring is thin without a fuse, so you can easily fit a buffer tube lipo in it. That's about it for nice things, unfortunately. The stock is probably the worst part. Extremely uncomfortable, has alot of sharp seams on it, and is very difficult to get the butt plate off. Motor is utterly horrible. On a 9.6 it sounded like an 8.4. The charging handle spring got stretched out the first time i pulled it back and had to be replaced. It is also a bit front heavy but that should be expected from a 12 inch ris. Got it for 20 percent off tho so i am somewhat happy with it.
Pros:
metal
6.03 barrel
flash hider is only glued thankfully
comes with a vert stubby grip
cool trades
slender pistol grip
thin wires
Cons:
front heavy
seems like they didn't pay attention to the minor details like charging handle
a horrible stock that doesn't even hold its position
trigger guard wobbles
overall bad externals
This is a good gun for the price. It shoots great and accuate when working, has a lot of nice features such as an all metal body, an all metal gear box, wired crane stock, decent foregrip, nice iron sights, and a tight bore barrel. I also personally like the 12" full RIS rail as opposed to their R5 versions.
Here's the bad. In my honest opinion, the gun is not that well made in other areas. First my came with a broken charging spring like others have mentioned. More importantly the positive wire attachment for the motor was loosely clamped and after firing a few blank screen on full auto it would apparently pop off and the gun would shut off immediately. Easy fix, but still a pain.
Most importantly though, the gun came and did not shoot. Ultimately it was because the hop up nub was pushed all the way through the bucking and into the barrel blocking it. I had no idea this was the problem, especially since the hop up worked fine when you tried to adjust it. I had it fixed at a local shop for $18. They couldn't believe it and had never seen a nub pushed thru the bucking like that on a new gun. I believe Apex should have taken responsibility and reimbursed me for this charge, but they declined. They said I needed to pay roughly $25 to ship it to them out of my own pocket to ship it to them, even though we both knew it was likely a quick, cheap fix. That's more than it ended up costing to fix and took far less time. Last Apex gun I will buy due to poor craftsmanship and a user unfriendly strict warranty policy.

Cons:

This gun worked great right out of the box. the magazine that came with it was crap (it jammed up the first time I started winding it) and the vertical grip was very hard to use. after a couple of games I noticed that it would some times shoot multiple bb's at once in single shot mode. I had to stop using it because it would start shooting as soon as I bumped it. wires in the trigger assembly were lose.
Pros:
great iron sights
range
magwell fit all my mags, kwa mid caps work the best.
Cons:
stock wobble
magazine
front heavy
trigger assembly
vertical grip is made of crapy plastic
flash hider is a pain
