For: Airsoft GI FMG4-A1 Knights Armament URX 3 AEG Airsoft Gun
I bought this airsoft rifle at the Gi Tactical store in Richmond Virginia. I've owned it for only a week but have put through 2,000 bb's. This is my first major airsoft rifle purchase, so my review may not be trustworthy. I have not used it in competitive play yet.
Accuracy: With only the iron sights, I can hit any small target I want in 1-2 shots. Effective range is 200+ feet out of the box (tested at the Airsoft GI Tactical store). Bb's don't seem to spread much, but I have more shooting to do. I live in the woods where there isn't much range without trees getting in my way. I shoot with Madbull .28.
Rate of Fire: I am chrono-less, but the bb's make a good stream of white plastic with an 11.1v lipo (which I use). Not only that, but the feel and sound of the gun is nice while firing too (none of that classic whiny "crappy aeg noise").
Rails: The rails are primarily BLANK, meaning you have to purchase your own modular interface system if you want to mount things to your gun. This is good though, because it cuts down the weight of the gun significantly (and it really seems to be light in comparison to other guns this size). The top rail interface system is complete on the top, and there is some on the sides and bottom rails too.
Battery: Batteries are stored in the stock. It can hold 3 11.1 lipo's in the tube at the same time, which is nice. To change the battery, all you have to do is press two buttons on the rubber butt pad, remove the pad and battery cover (it slips out), disconnect your old battery and connect your new one. It's really simple!
Hop up: Adjusting the hop up is easy. All you do is pull back on the bolt and turn the gear.
Iron Sights: I'm not a fan of these iron sights personally. The front one flips up and clicks into place, whereas the back one is held down by a piece of spring-tightened metal which must be held out of the way while the sight itself is pushed up into place. It's simple, but it's not ideal for me. I will be replacing them with a red dot soon.
Magazine: This gun comes free with a flash magazine!!
Stock: Love the adjustable stock. I have no complaints.
Flash-hider: I haven't even tried to remove it yet, so don't ask.
If you're looking to get a great gun out of the box, this one will do just perfectly. If you want a gun that is great out of the box, which you can upgrade easily yourself later, this gun will do perfectly. If you want a gun that is perfect out of the box that you don't need to upgrade, this one will do, but there are better options out there.
I plan on dumping a ton of money into this to make it shoot even faster, farther, and harder (though, it probably doesn't need it).
1. Lighter than some guns of this size.
2. Compatible with many parts, so this gun will become a great future project for any airsoft hobbyist.
3. Full auto shoots fast! (20+ rps).
4. Shoots hard! (Chronoed at the range at 400-410 with 0.20g bb's, probably will settle after breaking in at 390).
5. Comes with a flash magazine.
6. Adjustable crane stock can fit 3 batteries, if you get the right types.
7. No whiny AEG noise (at least with my battery).
8. Pretty accurate, but I have no basis of comparison since I don't really own any other comparable airsoft guns.
9. Functioning bolt catch.
10. Rails are completely modular (could be a con for those who want a full railset out of the box).
Personally, I don't like the flash magazine that comes with it, but maybe I'm just not used to dumping so many bb's so quickly.
Doesn't come with a battery (but that's actually a good thing since you can pick out your own). I suggest getting 3 tenergy 11.1V lipo 1000mah with a smart charger.
Iron sights are meh, but that's because they're iron sights.
If you want full rails out of the box, don't get this. If you want a lighter weight gun that you put your own rails on, get this!
I have no real complaints. This gun is so fun to shoot and awesome. I cannot wait to bring it out on the field.
