The Full Metal 2007 M4 Pistol is the latest M4 variant released by the airsoft gun company ICS. It has all the advantages of the standard ICS M4 such as the metal outer barrel, metal body, turbo 3000 motor, and some advantages of its own. The small size of this M4 pistol makes it ideal for CQB scenarios. The short barrel allows the user to operate in confined spaces and turn corners without difficulty or exposing his position. In addition it has a FIRSCH Style RIS that enables the user to mount all the accessories that are popular for CQB scenarios such as flashlights, laser, etc. The flat top reciever and flip up front sight make it easy to attach different optics systems. This gun is an excellent choice for CQB considering that upgrading a standard M4 of other brand would cost several hundred

This is a quick update review, with one additional piece of information: the PEQ box DOES work. You need a specific battery! Search for this one: V09F01.
To install the battery, open the PEQ box by unscrewing the two end caps.
Take off the cover.
Thread the Tamiya connector through the rectangular hole on the bottom half of the PEQ box.
Put one cell block down flat on lower half; place the second cell block UPRIGHT in the deeper slot, where the end caps are located. The battery cell blocks should be perpendicular to one another. T-shaped.
Put the cover back on, and screw on the end caps. Done.
The PEQ box fits one of the highest mAh rated NiMH batteries, besides those that require a full stock.
Getting the battery in takes some work the first time. Then, it's extremely easy.
I'm not sure why ASGI suggests crane-stock batteries. Perhaps the webmaster will update the listing?

Looking for a CQB gun for an old field a year ago, I ended up buying this unique M4 CQB Model from ICS. It seriously is the best, most reliable gun I had ever purchased. When I got this out of the box, I was instantly impressed by it's performance and quality, and still am even more so one year later. This gun has never had a malfunction, needed service, or stopped working every game I played, and it's so durable I seriously think I could drop this from a 2 story roof and it would still work fine. It even survived my horrible disassembly operation, and I swore I broke it when I tried to jam the upper receiver back into the lower (btw, if you disassemble it, be sure all parts line up before reassembly, and look at your manual!) and I severely bent this plastic part out of shape inside it. Sure enough though, i just took a pair of pliers and bent it back in shape, and it performs just as well now like it did before! I would highly recommend this gun to anyone looking for a CQB weapon.
Great ROF (with 9.6 volt)
Perfect FPS for CQB (mine chronos just below 350)
Small, easily maneuverable
Easy Disassembly and Reassembly (and idiot-proof!)
PEQ Box included has barely any battery space (the battery ASGI recommends is never going to fit. I recommend buying a new PEQ Box)
No rear Iron Sights (I don't use them anyways, you're better off buying a laser)
Range tops out at around 80-100 feet (It's meant for CQB anyways)
Dust cover opens with minimal force
Sometimes fires full auto on semi. This problem is always brief though.

I only buy ICS or G&P M4s these days. Of the 40 airsoft guns I've purchased in the last three years, six have been from ICS. ICS builds solid feeling, solid performing, reliable AEGs. TWO of those have been this model.
The highlight of ICS's M4 offerings is the split gearbox. You can:
1. Buy separate upper gearboxes to change FPS on the fly, or swap to a fresh upper if your piston strips. One pin, that's it.
2. Very easily change out compression parts (spring guide, spring, piston, piston head, cylinder, cylinder head, nozzle, tappet plate).
3. Build a DMR without trying to close a whole gearbox with an M150+ spring.
4. Shim the pinion to the bevel gear visually. The upper half of the gearbox isn't blocking your view.
If you can't tell, I like ICS as an upgrade platform. They perform solidly out of the box, but are exceptionally easy to upgrade. If you are new to gearbox work, ICS M4s are a great place to start.
Note that ICS M4s use imperial threads; this means that you will want to stick with G&P or ICS front ends to avoid modification. If you want to get all Magpul with it, you will want a G&P delta ring. The front end on this gun is very nice, if you like stubby M4s.
- Split gearbox.
- Solid construction.
- Spring tension release via forward assist knob.
- Good stock motor.
- Good stock accuracy. Some don't care for the ICS hopup chamber, but I love it.
- Superb lower gearbox components. Every gun I've gotten has been well shimmed.
- Good wiring.
- No stock. Why is this a pro? Because it keeps the price very low. This is far and away the most economical way to get into ICS's system. Stock adapters are readily available and cheap; they can be modified to fit any stock. See cons for stock related issues.
- Solid as a rock front end. Well designed and implemented; easy to adjust rail alignment if necessary.
- Several nonstandard/non-Marui parts, including:
Imperial front threading
Front sight (Allen key mount instead of pins)
Stock prongs are too thick to accept standard stocks without modification
Stock post design can't easily be trimmed to accept short G&P style stocks
I've had a hard time getting certain other parts to play nice, including: air nozzle, trigger mech, and tappet plate
- While solid, receivers are nowhere near as pretty as G&P.
- No functioning bolt-catch.
- Middling quality upper gearbox components.
Do I still recommend this gun, despite the long list of cons? Yes. Over and over. The spit gearbox is brilliant. Most of the nonstandard parts exist to accommodate the split gearbox, and ICS's quality is great. I've never had a metal receiver of theirs break. The guns are reliable without upgrades, and are very easy to upgrade if you are so inclined.
If you have been following the GITV Blog then you'll know that I have just mentioned how the great company ICS has improved over the years. I have also mentioned that ICS is the original company that created a split gearbox design for their M4 AEG Series. Like I have said before, the public has a love-hate relationship with the split gearbox design. People who own it loved it and people who do not hate it. Well, this article is dedicated to admire the beauty of the ICS M4, and I am going to turn the gun inside out and show you how amazing this split gearbox design really is.
When I first picked up one of the M4's from ICS, I immediately noticed the beauty of the craftsmanship this rifle has. The lower and upper receiver is made of metal. Depending on the model, some ICS M4's come with RIS units or standard plastic hand guards. The entire gun is extremely solid, there is no wobble of any kind. Just like other full metal M4s, the ICS Full Metal M4 is heavier than my AR-15. Most of the ICS M4 has a standard 14.5Ē outer barrel and a 363mm inner barrel; therefore, they are ideal for both indoor and outdoor play. The only short coming I see on the ICS M4 is the receiver pin is not retained. I have lost receiver pins before and believe me, it is not fun.
The ICS Full Metal M4 has a standard metal receiver. The one in the photo features a folding stock, which is a nice feature if the operator needs to go into a really confined space such as vehicles. The metal carrying handle can be removed to expose the 1913 picatinny rail and mount optics on to it. A unique feature of the ICS M4 that you might not be aware of is the forward assist button, on the right side of the upper receiver, functioning as a spring release. ICS is the company that invented this awesome idea, which can prolong the life of the spring.
The RIS unit on this particular ICS M4 is quite unique. It has 2 special screws on the bottom to hold the RIS unit in place. The screws also prevent wobbliness on the gun. The RIS unit contains 4 rails, which is pretty standard. However, I do not like this particular rail due to the fact that it is very wide, itís awkward just to hold. Continuing to the front, this ICS M4 has a standard triangle front sight post, which can be adjusted for elevation.
The unique feature on all ICS M4s is the split gearbox design. To check out this feature, punch out the rear receiver pin. The top receiver will pivot on the front pin and expose the internals. The lower gear box exposes the gears and the trigger mechanism. After talking to our tech department, this split gear box design has a huge advantage when it comes to maintenance and upgrades. One of the tech stated that shimming the gears on ICS split gear boxes really helped him to shim guns the right way. He can monitor all the gears movement and he can make the most precise shimming.
Not only is shimming easier, changing out stripped piston and changing springs is just as easy. Since the tech is only dealing half a gear box, they have fewer things to worry about. To change a spring or stripped piston, all the tech needs to do is punch out the rear take down pin, and slide the upper gearbox out after splitting open the receivers. The Tech works on half of the gearbox at a time compared to the tradition gearboxes which take much more time to remove from the body.
The ICS M4 uses its own unique hop up unit. With the split gearbox designs, it is easy to work on the hop up unit. After sliding the top gear box out, the inner barrel and the hop up assembly slide out of the upper receiver. One thing our technician told me is that the spring pushing the hop up unit against the air nozzle for a better air seal. However, over time the spring will loose tension, which causes potential air leaks. Air leaks equate to loss of FPS, therefore, keep an eye out for the spring tension.
Overall, this ICS M4 is superb in my book. The ICS M4 is well built externally and it has a genius design for internal. Shooting about 380 FPS right out of the box, this ICS M4 is perfect to skirmish in any outdoor arenas. Pricing at $330, this gun might seem a little bit expensive, but I assure you that this gun is worth every penny. Thatís it for now, I am Andrew, stay safe, and get out and play airsoft.

What size battery would fit in this?
What size battery would fit in this? Mini? Nunchuck? There have been several reviews claiming the included PEQ box has little to no space, and fits only certain batteries.

(I have this same question)
Staff Answer: A nunchuck or mini, since both batteries are roughly the same size when put next to each other.
