I am starting to really like this scope mount. OK, so I gave it a 2-star review first time around, but since then I've gone through several different Aimpoint mounts and I take it all back (mostly). True, this mount still has a humongous knurled knob that catches on things, and it is a little tricky trying to keep the Aimpoint level at the same time you're securing the screws down, but these little annoyances, once you get accustomed to them, go unnoticed beside the fact that it is one of the best mounts you'll find for an M4 flattop. Face it, once you get a site mounted, how often are you going to change it up anyway?
The point is, this is the only L-type I've found that will hold your Aimpoint high enough (on a stock M4 rail) for you to take aim without giving yourself neck spasms by twisting your head into position, as you have to to line-up with a lower profile mount. I do have a low-profile Aimpoint mount, but I've found that unless I mount it on my JG S-system rail which sits about 3/4" higher, it's too low for comfort. The G&P Type 1, on the other hand, sits high enough to be comfortable on any of my M4s. Put me down for 2 more.
Can you guys delete my original review?
Pros:
Rugged military-type construction
High-profile, comfy to use (once you get your site installed)
Tacticool looks
Cons:
Still has a huge knob, and still tricky to get your site mounted- but once it's there, it ain't going anywhere (so this is still sort of a "pro")
