G&P Full Metal M4 SOPMOD Airsoft Rifle
[06985]New to airsoft? Here are some safety tips for airsoft guns that we recommend following.
The G&P Full Metal M4 SOPMOD Airsoft Gun is a great value for a quality built gun with quality internal parts. This entire gun is made from G&P parts, one of the most well known airsoft companies in the world! This amazing gun is completely built from metal, except for the parts that are supposed to be plastic of course. The crane stock houses the battery and disguises the wires. The dust cover stays open to emulate firing a real gun; don't worry, the charging handle works to pull the imitation bolt back so you can access the hop up. The pistol grip is thinner than some other AEGs to emulate the feel of a real gun. The gearbox operation is smooth as silk, just like G&P's higher end AEGs. This is the perfect gun to be the base of an awesome project built, but it's also a great, reliable, gun for the budget minded airsofter.

G&P has always made great guns; this one is no different. I will change or add a review once I get my battery, because ASGI does NOT warn you that this gun's battery connection is a Deans style connection, NOT the standard Tamiya style that all batteries come with except G&P! Most other G&P guns have normal connectors, but this one doesn't. So your choices are to either solder on a Male Tamiya connector, buy an adapter (which I did), or get a Deans battery. Then you have to get a deans charger. Much hassle, and thanks to ASGI's negligence this time I cannot use my gun yet.
The build quality is great, but until i fire, I cannot say more.
Pros:
Gun is built like a ROCK! Solid, no wobble, very sturdy. Operates realistically.
Cons:
Dean style battery connectors make this one a hassle unless you get a $5 adapter.
Mags misfeed a bit, but they break in.
great gun i just bought it recently the gun is very accurate when i shot at the regular hop up settings the gun itself is full metal except for the handguard, crane stock, and the handle
i love this gun but i was a little frustrated when i noticed that there were dean style connectors for battery compartment (this was back when the site didnt say it had it) so i had to solder the wires to regular compatible connectors (because i didnt want custom batteries) overall i love it.
Pros:
full metal fast full automatic mode accurate good price
Cons:
dean style connectors for battery plastic handguard crane stock and handle
I'm writing a new review now that I have enough experience, as well as a battery!
My gun came in a completely unmarked box with no manual, which is odd because a G&P I recently handled from another US retailer had a G&P box and included a takedown manual. The package comes with gun, a mid-cap magazine, and an extra dean connector.
The gun's externals are rock solid. All aluminum, metal where it should be and strong ABS where it shouldn't. The only plastic parts are the handgrips, pistol grip, and crane stock. The laser engravings are clean and well done. This gun feels great! Mine came with a black metal flashhider too.
The gun internally is great. ASGI didn't include chrono information for me, but the "poor man's chrono" is showing that it shoots at least 350fps; shot right through a soda can, both sides. It breaks the bottom of a can, but doesn't pass through, so I'm guessing it's maybe even around 360 tops with .25s.
Note that this gun uses a real-style Delta ring and receiver, so you'll need RIS systems made for that as opposed to the kind made for Marui, Echo 1, or JG guns.
ASGI now informs you that the gun has DEANS connectors and not Tamiya connectors, so you need an adapter to use normal batteries. Deans connectors are considered higher quality, but they're not standard. If you want, go online and buy a female deans - male tamiya adapter from cheapbatterypacks.com for about $4.
Pros:
-Great Construction
-Performs well out of the box
-G&P Quality really shows.
Cons:
-A little peeved that ASGI didn't offer to fix the battery issue even though when I bought the gun they didn't inform me at all that the battery I bought wasn't compatible. I'm still a loyal ASGI customer, but shame on them for once!

Is the delta ring the same as AEG or GBBR/RS?
One of the reviews here said that the delta ring is different from that of other AEGs, and so I was wondering if it would take a different type of rail system/what type of mods would be required to mount an AEG type rail.
Thank you in advance.
